In Crete, a shoot can begin with a visit to a village café and end after sunrise. The team looks for people with stories of their own and their own way of delivering a line. Evening auditions in the villages turn into encounters, conversations and screen tests: behind every character is a real person.

In courtyards, narrow lanes and abandoned villages, the early hours bring unforgettable images. Lights, cables, rehearsals and residents who watch, help or join the next scene. Anyone who has experienced it knows the adventure continues well beyond the finished film.

Hospitality becomes part of the production. Someone opens their home; someone brings a garment, a utensil or a missing prop. A last-minute problem finds a solution through people who want to see the story completed. The village becomes our collaborator.

Of course, not everything goes according to the script. A line changes, a glance needs another rehearsal, a surprise sends the whole crew into laughter. This is where we capture the authenticity we love: the character of the people, their trust and the joy of making something together.

The archive presents separately behind the scenes of the shoots and television interviews and appearances. From Cretan Survivor and Just Beers to RAKIBUSTERS and the hot air balloon flight of MELITZANA APO ALANA, each film opens another window into the world of Kalokairi Sto Noto.

This process showed us how far an idea can go when people come together to support it. We are delighted that it also encouraged small producers to explore their own communities, meet their own characters and create their own stories. The finest backstage story is the one that continues in a new creation.
